Georgian Artist Tsisana Kavtaradze was born on November 2, 1956 in Tbilisi, The Republic of Georgia. 

In 1963 Tsisana Kavtaradze entered the Tbilisi 35th Secondary School, (eight years).  In 1964 She also entered the Musical School,(seven years). Tsisana graduated with honors from both in 1971.  Continuing with her arts education, Tsisana  Kavtaradze began attending music classes in 1971 at the Musical College No.2 after Z. Paliashvili. Completing four years of study, Tsisana graduated with the degree The Specialist in Music Theory in 1975.

Tsisana Kavtaradze began painting at the age of twenty-five.  Her first teacher was Vazha Jalagania, film painter.  The year 1988  Tsisana entered Tbilisi Art College No.11 after M. Toidze. One year later, graduating from the college with honors, Kavtaradze acquired the profession of puppet maker. As a student in 1989 Ts. Kavtaradze participated in the art exhibition of students from the former Soviet Republics, held at the “Exhibition of National Economic Achievements in Moscow”.

Continuing her art education, Tsisana Kavtaradze enrolled at Tbilisi Academy of Art in 1989, and began a 6 year curriculum.  Her first year was with the faculty of Decorative and Applied Arts, specializing in Haberdashery.  In her second year Tisana moved to the faculty of Easel Painting, trained by Professor Ilo Patashuri.  In her third year of study Tisana began attending classes at Professor A. Zizharadze’s studio.  At the Academy her teachers included Professor A. Popiashvili, Professor T. Jincharadze, Professor T. Shatirishuili, as well as others.  Tsisana actively participated in the exhibitions arranged at The Academy of Arts. Tsisana Kavtaradze graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1995, her diploma work entitled “The Blessed Garden” was displayed at the Christmas Exhibition in 1996 held at The Academy of Art. In that same year Kavtaradze exhibited her work in the Ethnographic Museum “Karvasla”, “Artists of the Ninty’s”, arranged in Tbilisi, under the auspice of the Festival “Gvinobisci”

New York City is home since 1998, recent exhibitions include: “International Exhibition of Russian, Georgian, and American Art” at Russian Museum of Contemporary Art in Jersey City 2004, Art Expo Jacob Javits Center NYC 2005, Georgian Art Group and N. Melnikou and Group Show in Waterbury, Connecticut.  Her paintings are in private collections in Republic of Georgia, Russia, Germany, Estonia, France, Japan, and United States.

Ts. Kavtaradze’s art works include oil paintings, acrylic, mixed media, drawings, clothing, footwear, and photography.  The paintings are executed using expressive-abstractive-decorative styles; free and drastic strokes; restive rhythm; rich and vivid coloring full of temperament, contrariness, and dramatic effects. Her paintings are notable for their originality of conveying the idea, where common conditionality of images is unified in the whole.  Ts. Kavtaradze is in constant creative – seeking and striving.
